Nothing exciting happened…

Posted on Sunday 5 November 2006

I wish I had started this when I was a reserve pilot, since I would have had more to write about. There’s nothing like walking into work, going into dispatch, and being told “we need you to depart ASAP to TEB. An airplane’s broke there.” Or, flying a charter run that is supposed to go OH-NY-SDF-OH, and ending up timing out on flight time in Louisville, staying there for the night, and then starting a run the next day from SDF, not being home for 4 days (with just 2 days worth of clothes).

Of course, those stories will be in the book, when I start writing it (one of these days), but for now, life’s very good. The time in the logbook keeps going up, the schedule is manageable, the wife’s happy, and I have Thanksgiving and Christmas off this year. Eventually, I will end up either a corporate or charter pilot for my career, but for now I will enjoy knowing my schedule and being able to tell when I’ll be home, what holidays I’ll have off, and how much time is going into the logbook. Of course, after this job, I really won’t care how much time is in the logbook, but I’ll keep track, just because I am anal like that.

Well, as the title says, nothing remarkable has happened in the last couple of weeks, and I’ve been away from the computer for a while, but I am still here and will probably start a rant about something else soon.

Until then, fly safe and have a great day!!
